Marika invents a Nottinghamshire feast

Local food retailers and producers have a unique opportunity to showcase their products to restaurants, hotels and other food suppliers at a new event devised by Newark and Sherwood District Council Chairman Mrs. Marika Tribe.

Cllr. Tribe is looking to attract local producers and growers to provide ingredients as a way of introducing their business to other companies on the lookout for local food products, such as restaurants, shops or hotels and local dignitaries.

So instead of the usual civic dinner, traditionally held by the district council’s Chairman every year in aid of the Chairman’s charity for the year (this year it’s Think Children), producers and growers will have the opportunity to provide their ingredients for the menu and potentially boost the local economy at the same time.

The dinner event at 7pm on Thursday 27 September 2012 and tickets will be available to food-buying businesses in the district. The approximate cost of the ticket will be £20 per head but a confirmed price will be issued at a later date.

Any food producers or growers, based within Nottinghamshire, who would like more information on the event, or to put themselves forward to provide ingredients for the dinner can contact Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Civic Office on 01636 655501.
